BARN ARTS RESIDENCY

     In September 2019, the team, along with several performers and instruments, packed into a passenger van and drove all the way to Mount Desert Island, Maine, for a residency at BarnArts. They spent their week workshopping the show in a beautiful Barn-turned-performance space, testing new orchestrations and hearing the script performed by actors. The week concluded with a public showing of work at the Barn, sharing music and stories with Maine locals. Before leaving, they took the opportunity to record a few live performance videos in the Barn, which can be viewed below.

     Barn Arts brings people together to make creativity a vital part of life on Mount Desert Island, Maine, and beyond. Barn Arts fosters the development of new artistic projects through free residencies; connects with underserved audiences of all ages through performances and arts education; and produces events and programs that lead to community engagement, enrichment and collaboration. Barn Arts works towards this mission through the following activities: Presenting original works of performance for multi-generational Audiences; Leading and organizing community members in performing arts education and events; Providing Residencies for artists making new works of performance at no cost to the artist; Hosting and producing events that build community through access to the arts; and Engaging in all activities that will further and are consistent with the mission, including, but not limited to: public performances, events, workshops, screenings, exhibits and installations; presentations; festivals;community dialogues and conversations; publication of literature and journalism; public education, and public relations.
